The Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr.
Seriake Dickson, has urged the citizens of the state not to despair,
assuring them that despite the dwindling financial resources, his
administration would continue to fulfil its obligations.
Dickson gave the assurance in his
opening remarks at the 62nd Bayelsa State Executive Council meeting in
Yenagoa the capital. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel
Iworiso-Markson, said on Friday.
The governor said his government would
continue to do its best to deliver on its mandate of providing quality
infrastructure, social amenities and welfare to the citizenry.
He commended the members of the state
civil service and the entire people of the state for their support and
understanding in spite of the difficult times.
He said his government would keep to its policies and programmes geared towards making life more meaningful for Bayelsans.
Dickson said, “I want to express my
gratitude to Bayelsans for their support, understanding and prayers
offered for the peace and development of the state. The government will
continue to meet its obligations to the expectations of our people.
“Particularly, I want to also thank the
public service for their support and understanding to bear with us in
our trying moments. Though the economic downturn experienced in the
state is due to the dwindling national economy, the government is
working very hard to turn things around by diversifying the economy of
the state.”
He also commended the members of the
executive council for their dedication to service, continued loyalty and
love, including their prayers for the administration.
