Professor Soyinka made the remark on Thursday, July
14, 2016, while participating in activities to commemorate his 82nd
birthday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Punch reports.
“There
is only one way for corrupt people; it ends in the prison. It ends in
Ibara or Oba (prisons in Abeokuta) or Kirikiri (Lagos prison). Yes, it’s
a battle for everybody and definitely the arts must be in front as
usual,” Soyinka said.
“Not just the arts,
the theologians, the moralists, the philosophers, the architects,
builders, it’s everybody’s work. The law, Nigeria Bar Association;
everybody is involved, even including you (journalists),” he added.Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his government is not interested in disgracing looters, but only wants to get the stolen funds back.
